The maximum amount that may be withdrawn using a Classic Debit Card has had its limit raised by the bank from Rs 40,000 to Rs 75,000. The daily point-of-sale transaction limit for these cards has been raised from 1 lakh to 2 lakh. The maximum restriction for NFC has not been lifted. Similarly, the total amount that can be spent via contactless payment in a single day is capped at 5,000 rupees over five separate transactions.
Now, there will be an important shift in how security is handled.
Card transactions have been given a higher level of protection, as required by the guidelines issued by the RBI, as stated on the website of Canara Bank. We can only use the default card issued for domestic transactions at ATMs and POS terminals. At the time of card issuance, usage restrictions prohibit international and online (e-commerce) use and contactless usage. Customers can activate or deactivate their cards channel-specifically (ATM/POS/e-commerce, domestic/international, NFC contactless) and establish their restrictions using an ATM/Branch/Mobile Banking/Internet Banking/IVRS.
Use of a Debit Card Issued by PNB
As suggested by the Punjab National Bank, the maximum number of transactions that can be made with a debit card may soon be adjusted. The PNB website indicates that the bank is planning to raise the limit on all Platinum MasterCard, RuPay, and Visa Gold debit cards, in addition to RuPay Select and Visa Signature debit cards.
